Cincinnati knocked off No. 8 Texas Tech 37-24 at home on Saturday, wiping the Red Raiders out of the undefeated list and turning a tight rankings race into a loss that will echo into the next poll. JC French IV set the tone after a pick-six, then finished with 172 passing yards, 46 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

That is the kind of response that changes a game and a season at once. Texas Tech entered unbeaten, but Cincinnati had already pushed the lead to 24-6 by halftime, leaving the visitors to chase the game from a steep hole they never escaped.

Cole Tabb gave Cincinnati the closing burst with 173 rushing yards and a 58-yard run in the fourth quarter that sealed the win. On that play, Texas Tech allowed its first rushing touchdown of the season, a sharp end to a day that began with top-10 ambition and ended with a second loss of control in the second half.

The result carried real historical weight for Cincinnati. It was the program's first win over a top-10 team since beating No. 9 Notre Dame 24-13 on Oct. 2, 2021, and its first top-10 home win since defeating No. 7 Rutgers 30-11 on Nov. 18, 2006. For Texas Tech, the immediate question is less about the one-game loss than what it does to a season that had stayed clean until Week 8.

Across the rest of the live Week 8 board, Miami led Pitt 31-7 at halftime, Indiana led Michigan 6-0 at halftime, and Rice was leaning on a heavy ground game against FAU. But the result that changes the shape of the rankings picture is Cincinnati's. Texas Tech no longer has an unbeaten path to protect, and the next update will show how far the loss drops a team that arrived in the game among the sport's elite.

Elsewhere, Rice quarterback Gael Ochoa made his first career start and ran for 260 yards and four touchdowns on only eight attempts as Rice piled up 448 rushing yards against FAU, while FAU's Caden Veltkamp threw for 331 yards and three touchdowns in a 44-42 game through three quarters. Miami's Malachi Toney had 12 catches for 159 yards and two touchdowns against Pitt, Indiana held Michigan to 93 first-half yards, Northwestern led Rutgers 28-6, and LSU was up 31-10 with Sam Leavitt accounting for four total touchdowns and Jackson Haris producing 139 yards and two touchdown catches.
