Reebok unveiled Darius Acuff Jr.'s signature logo and released his player-exclusive Reebok Engine A colorway on Friday, October 21, turning the start of his NBA career into a brand moment as the Sacramento Kings prepared to tip off against the Los Angeles Clippers that night.
The limited-edition Reebok Engine A x Darius Acuff Jr. went on sale at 7:00 p.m. ET for $120 in adult sizes, sold only on Reebok.com. For Acuff, it marked an early step in a pro path that begins in the same shoe he says first pulled him to the brand. “The Engine A was the shoe that brought me to the brand,” he said.
That matters because the shoe is not just a retro release or a one-off colorway. The Reebok Engine A is built around an ERS SuperFloat Foam core, with ERS standing for Energy Return System, and the foam is infused with nitrogen for responsive energy and impact protection. Cutouts in the outsole show the compression and energy return, while a stability plate helps keep the shoe steady when a player cuts and changes direction. A one-piece molded synthetic upper finishes the build.
Acuff's rise has been quick enough to make the timing feel deliberate. From IMG Academy to Arkansas, he established himself as one of the top prospects in the country, and now Reebok is attaching his name to both a logo and a shoe before his first game at the next level. That is the kind of rollout usually reserved for players whose lane is already clear. Acuff is still just entering it.
The catch is that Reebok is already pointing beyond this drop. Acuff said he wants to begin his pro journey with a PE of what started it all and told fans, “Stay tuned for Acuff 1.” There is no release date yet, which leaves the next chapter open even as the first one is already on shelves. For now, the brand has given him a logo, a shoe and a public start. The rest will have to wait.
