The Milwaukee Brewers said Tuesday they will let eligible Timeless Ticket holders keep their World Series seats and still use the ticket again in a future season after acknowledging a mistake in how the redemption process was handled.
The fix matters because several hundred fans had already signaled they wanted to use the 2015 pass for a World Series game. The team said it was able to seat everyone, but some fans were unhappy with where those seats landed.
The Timeless Ticket was sold in 2015 as a promise that buyers could claim a seat at any future home game of their choice, including postseason games, with the best available seat assigned at redemption. Milwaukee sold 1,000 of the passes for $1,000 each, and Tuesday’s reversal means the Brewers are now honoring that promise for fans who got their requests in before the deadline.
Danny Fochesato said he received the redemption form the day before World Series tickets went on sale to the general public, leaving him with little room to choose. He said his options were mostly limited to Terrace Level seats at American Family Field or standing-room-only entry, and he argued that after 11 years, the arrangement should have been handled more faithfully. “It’s been 11 years that we did this and put our faith in the Brewers,” he said. “For them to not really honor it in the original way doesn’t feel right.”
Rick Schlesinger said the Brewers erred in their internal communications on the logistics of fulfilling the requests. He said the club received feedback from some fans that they were unhappy with their seat locations, even though all were accommodated with seats. The team’s response now closes that gap by keeping the original World Series ticket for this year while preserving the Timeless Ticket for another game in any future season.
The unresolved piece is how many fans had already accepted the first seat assignments before the Brewers changed course, but the team said everyone who applied before the deadline will get a positive update. For the holders who were caught in the middle, the new plan gives them both the game they wanted now and the chance to redeem the ticket again later.
