The Washington Commanders moved Trey Amos, Jordan Magee and Jeremy McNichols off the Reserve/Injured List on Oct. 15, clearing three players for their Week 6 trip to face the San Francisco 49ers. At the same time, Jacory Croskey-Merritt was ruled out for the matchup.
That matters because the roster shift came right before Monday Night Football at Levi's Stadium, where availability was changing on both sides of the injury report. Amos had been dealing with an ankle injury, Magee with a hamstring injury and McNichols with a quad injury, but all three were upgraded from questionable and removed from the injury report.
Dan Quinn confirmed on Saturday that Croskey-Merritt would not play, making the Commanders' backfield picture thinner for a game that demanded immediate depth. The move left Washington with more help from the activated group, but it also removed a player they had to account for in the same week.
The contradiction inside the day was simple: three Commanders were back, while Croskey-Merritt was not. That is often how a late-season roster can shift from relief to restraint in a matter of hours, and it left Washington heading into San Francisco with a healthier group but one fewer option for a road game that was already scheduled to be a test.
The next confirmed step was the game itself, with the Washington Commanders meeting the San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium on Monday Night Football.
