The Rams are sending Kobie Turner to injured reserve because of a groin injury, a move that will sideline the defensive tackle for at least four games. Sean McVay announced Monday that Turner and Poona Ford will both go on IR, leaving the Rams with a sudden hole in the middle of their defense.

Turner’s absence comes right after the Rams lost to the Cardinals in Week 6 and fell to 2-4, which makes the timing harsher for a team already trying to steady itself. Turner has played in six games in 2026, with 22 total tackles and two pass deflections, production the Rams will have to replace without one of their most active interior defenders.

The injury is not described as as severe as Ford’s torn triceps, but it still forces Turner onto IR and removes him from the lineup for a stretch that matters. Ford is out for the rest of the season, so the Rams are losing both members of a key interior pairing at once, and that leaves the next four games especially thin up front.

Turner was the No. 89 overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and he is in the final year of his rookie deal. That contract status adds another layer to a season that has already been interrupted, with Turner now scheduled to miss at least four games and the Rams still not saying who will absorb his snaps while he is out.
