’s early Week 7 betting preview leaned toward the Pittsburgh Steelers in Paris, with Eric Moody saying they should beat the New Orleans Saints by at least a field goal. The recommendation landed after most of Week 6 was already in the books and centered on a Saints defense that has been leaking points and yards for weeks.
That is why Jaylen Hurts is being searched now: the Paris game is not just another Week 7 matchup, but a game with a betting angle attached to it before the line settles. Moody said the Saints had allowed 31.7 points per game over their last three contests, ranked 29th in total yards allowed and had given up 138 rushing yards per game through six weeks, enough, in his view, to put Jaylen Warren in position to make an impact.
The Steelers arrive after an overtime win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 26-19, but the recent result does not erase the defensive numbers sitting in front of them. That is the core of Moody’s view: Pittsburgh does not need a perfect offensive night to cover if New Orleans keeps surrendering chunk plays and run-game production the way it has lately.
The Paris setting matters too. This is the Steelers and Saints on Sunday in Paris, which gives the matchup extra visibility and turns a routine betting call into an international spotlight game. The preview also framed the total at 38.5 points and listed the Steelers as 5.5-point favorites, a spread that makes Moody’s call more aggressive than a simple lean toward the favorite.
There is still a wrinkle in the read on Warren. Moody’s case gives him opportunities, but that is not the same as saying he is guaranteed a feature workload, and the preview does not clear that up. What it does make clear is that New Orleans’ run defense is the weakness driving the pick, and if that holds in Paris, Pittsburgh should have enough room to control the game and justify the field-goal margin Moody projected.
The same betting preview also backed Minnesota to cover, with Matt Bowen saying he would take the Vikings and give the points because of Brian Flores’ defense, and he pointed to a unit allowing a league-low 12.8 points per game and leading the NFL with a 67.6% blitz rate. Pamela Maldonado took a different tack on Miami, where she said the team had scored 13 points or less in four of five games, the Jets’ pass rush could make moving the ball even harder, and Miami’s run defense could force longer passing situations. For Week 7 bettors, the message was simple: the early edge in Paris belongs to the Steelers, and the Saints will have to prove that their defensive slide has stopped before anyone trusts them to keep up.
