Titans Schedule: Jim Wyatt weighs trades, Cam and Sunday in Indianapolis

It has been a tough week in Titan land, and Jim Wyatt did not try to dress it up. Ahead of Sunday’s game against the Colts in Indianapolis, he answered fan questions about a 0 and 5 start, the quarterback spot and whether the team should start selling off pieces.

That is why the Titans schedule is drawing attention now: the next stop is Sunday in Indianapolis, and the conversation has already turned from what the team can fix to whether it should even keep pushing this season in the same direction. Wyatt’s answers gave those questions a direct public airing before the game.

One fan from Burlington, Ontario, asked about the team after the slow start, and Wyatt made clear he does not like endorsing in-season trades because it usually means a club has given up on the year. He said that on October 17 he was not ready to do that, adding that this season was supposed to be about getting better and showing some promise moving toward a new stadium.

He also pushed back on the idea that the Titans should be treated like a team beyond hope. Wyatt said he did not think there was going to be a Super Bowl turnaround, but he also said he once thought this might be a six-win team and was not sure the club would reach that mark now. Trading away assets, he said, would significantly hurt any chance of a turnaround this year.

The quarterback question came from Cedar Bluff, Virginia, and it went to the same place. Wyatt said Cam is still a work in progress and is trying to find his way, which leaves the team’s current plan intact for now rather than opening the door to a midstream change. That matters because fans are already looking at the 0 and 5 record and wondering whether patience has run out.

Wyatt drew the sharpest line when Jeffery Simmons came up. He said he would not trade Simmons, called him the team’s best player and said he should be a big piece for years to come. For now, that is the clearest sign of how the Titans view their roster: not as a seller before Sunday, but as a team still trying to salvage something from the season while the schedule moves on to Indianapolis.
