Jermaine Eluemunor will not be in the lineup Sunday when the New York Giants face the New Orleans Saints, leaving the team to make another change on the right side of its offensive line. Marcus Mbow replaced him after last Sunday’s calf injury and is now likely to start at right tackle, with J.C. Davis active as the swing tackle.

The move matters because it comes at game time, not after a long stretch of roster churn. Eluemunor was hurt last Sunday against the Washington Commanders, and the Giants had to adjust on the fly then as well. This time, the adjustment is official: one starter out, one backup moved up, and a reserve lineman ready in case the game demands another switch.

There is still some good news for the Giants. Andrew Thomas will play after being listed as questionable with a groin injury, and Abdul Carter will also play after being questionable with a calf injury. Both had missed practices on Wednesday and Thursday, which made their status worth watching through the week, but neither injury kept them out on Sunday.

The lineup changes do not stop there. Najee Harris will start at running back instead of Cam Skattebo, who has fumbled four times in five games this season. Devin Singletary will be active after sitting out the past three games, and Bobby Jamison-Travis will be active for the first time. C.J. Okoye is inactive against the New Orleans Saints.

For Eluemunor, the immediate question is not whether he is out on Sunday — he is — but how long the calf injury keeps him off the field. For the Giants, the next snap at right tackle belongs to Mbow, and the next test is whether the line can hold together without another midgame repair.

Tyler Shough has reportedly been playing with two broken bones in his left hand, a reminder that the Giants’ inactive report sits inside a wider league week full of players managing pain and still being asked to answer on Sunday.
