UFC 336 will take place in Toronto on January 30, 2027, with ScotiaBank Arena set to host the numbered card. The announcement gives Canadian fans a date and a place to circle, even as the fight lineup remains blank for now.
That is why Sean Strickland is part of the conversation. The former champion was dethroned by Dricus Du Plessis in 2024, and the result helped drive a Canadian record gate for UFC 297. With Strickland now once again middleweight champion, his name has naturally resurfaced around the next major card in Canada, where interest builds quickly once a numbered event is attached to Toronto.
There is another reason the booking matters now. The UFC has not returned to Canada’s most populous city since 2024, and the promotion has typically visited Canada twice per year since resuming regular operations after the coronavirus pandemic. UFC 336 also arrives as numbered events in Canada are set to shift to Paramount+ in January, a change that will move them away from remaining exclusive to Pay Per View in Canada and give Canadian fight fans the same access as their southern counterparts for numbered events.
For all that momentum, the card itself is still unwritten. No fights have been announced for UFC 336, and talk that Islam Makhachev could headline against Carlos Prates remains rumor for the time being. That leaves the event with a venue, a date and a broadcast shift, but not yet the one thing most fans want most: a bout list that matches the scale of the announcement.
Tickets for the event go on sale next month, which means the first real test of demand is still ahead. Until the UFC starts filling in the card, Toronto has the date and the building, but not yet the fight.
