Nfl Mock Draft: Jeremiah Smith goes No. 1 as QB board shakes up

Bleacher Report's latest Nfl Mock Draft turns the 2027 board upside down: Jeremiah Smith is projected to go No. 1 overall, while Arch Manning, Julian Sayin and CJ Carr are left out of the first round entirely. Six weeks into the 2026 campaign, the draft class looks nothing like the preseason picture, and the biggest shift is at quarterback.

That matters now because the mock was published one month before the trade deadline, when draft boards usually start to harden and every new evaluation gets more attention than it would in August. Smith, the consensus top talent in the class, is projected to land with the Tennessee Titans, where he would immediately become WR1 and reunite with Carnell Tate to give Tennessee a receiver pair built around speed and timing. Leonard Moore stays near the top as the No. 1 corner and the class' second-best prospect overall, going to the Los Angeles Chargers.

The board behind them is where the surprise lives. The Bleacher Report Scouting Department did not include Manning, Sayin or Carr because it does not view any of the three as first-round talents at this point, even though all three have been central to the early conversation around the 2027 NFL draft. Instead, the quarterback group has been reshuffled by a pair of less-heralded transfers who have climbed into top-15 draft pick territory, which is a sharper verdict than the preseason hype suggested.

That same logic helps explain why Drew Mestemaker gets the nod over Darian Mensah in the latest quarterback tier. Mestemaker is described as having arguably the best physical toolbox in next year's class, a trait that can carry more weight when evaluators are comparing upside rather than production alone. Mensah remains in the discussion, but the latest projection points to Mestemaker as the more attractive top-15 candidate right now.

The mock draft was built by Dame Parson, Brandon Thorn, Daniel Harms and Matt Holder, and it leans hard on fit as much as pure talent. It also reflects how quickly the league can reshape a class once the season starts to supply real evidence. In that sense, the more interesting question is not whether Smith belongs at No. 1; it is whether the quarterbacks pushed down today can climb back before the 2027 NFL draft board settles for good.
