Barcelona have scored 16 goals against Betis in five official matches under Hansi Flick, a run that works out to 3.2 goals a game and puts the matchup squarely in focus again this afternoon. Betis have given up goals in every one of those meetings, and Barcelona have not lost to them once under the German coach.
The numbers matter because Barcelona arrive with 34 goals in LaLiga this season and a scoring rate of more than four per league match, a pace that has made Betis one of their preferred victims since Flick took over in 2024. The sequence started with a 2-2 draw in December 2024 in LaLiga, then moved to a 5-1 Barcelona win in the Copa del Rey round of 16 in January 2025, before a 1-1 draw in April 2025, a 5-3 win in Sevilla in December 2025 and a 3-1 win in May 2026.
That clean-looking record has one awkward detail inside it. Betis were the last side to beat Barcelona, winning 1-0 at Spotify Camp Nou in December 2021 when Xavi was coach, and Juanmi scored the only goal. Since then, Flick’s side have built a different pattern against the same opponent: three wins and two draws across five official matches, without a defeat.
So the question this afternoon is not whether Barcelona can create chances against Betis. They have already done that repeatedly. It is whether Betis can finally slow a team that has turned five meetings into a steady stream of goals and turned a once-dangerous matchup into one Barcelona have controlled almost every time they have faced it.
