Nfl Trade Deadline For The Minnesota Vikings: Ben Bredeson emerges as a fit

The Minnesota Vikings are using their bye week to sort through what still needs fixing, and Ben Bredeson has surfaced as a possible answer before the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline. With Donovan Jackson out for the season and Christian Darrisaw in concussion protocol, the left side of the offensive line has become one of the clearest problems on the roster.

That is why Bredeson, a 28-year-old 2020 fourth-rounder, makes sense as a name to watch. He has played 78 games with 58 starts, has appeared in three postseason games and has lined up at all three interior offensive line spots, with most of his work coming at left guard. For a team averaging 21.8 points and 283 total yards through five weeks, that kind of experience is exactly what stands out during a search for immediate help.

Max Bredeson adds a family thread to the possibility. Ben Bredeson is his elder brother, which would make any move feel personal as well as practical for a Vikings group trying to steady its offense while the season is still young.

The part that keeps this from becoming a done deal is simple: the Buccaneers have entered Week 6 with a 1-4 record, which puts them into the kind of territory where teams think hard about selling, but that is not the same as deciding to move a player. Ben Bredeson could fit the profile of a trade chip, yet there is no public sign that the Buccaneers have actually committed to dealing him.

If the Vikings are serious, the next step is whether Nolan Teasley reaches out to Jason Licht and tries to find a price before Nov. 10. The easy part is seeing the need; the harder part is turning that need into a trade that the Buccaneers will accept.
