Nike has revealed the Nike 24.7 boot, a new recovery shoe that extends its 24.7 line with a winter-ready silhouette and a design that borrows from the 24.7 sneaker. The boot is not out yet, and Nike has not said when it will be released.

The first thing people are talking about is the shape. Morgan Smith described it as “Nike’s next recovery shoe? Swoosh ‘UGGs,’” and the comparison lands because the boot looks like an UGG boot mixed with classic Nike sports shoes, with a hint of Air Yeezy 2 flavor. It is also an EasyOn model, so it is built to be easy to take on and off.

The boot keeps the recovery cues that made the 24.7 sneaker stand out earlier this year. It has plentiful plush padding and the same bouncy foam pod outsoles, while dialing back some of the bulk of the sneaker version. That gives the boot a different profile without breaking from the formula Nike has already used in the line.

Smith said the shoes were already viral hits before they were even out, and that is the odd part of this reveal: the buzz is running ahead of the product. There are no sales numbers, no release calendar and no launch date to anchor the attention, only a newly shown design that people are already treating like a finished hit.

That leaves the boot in an in-between place that Nike knows well but has not resolved here. The company already has React Rejuven8 models and self-massaging Hyperice shoes in its recovery collection, and the 24.7 boot now joins that group as another option with a recovery-first pitch. For now, though, the only firm detail is that the shoe exists on paper and in images — not in stores. The next question is simple: when Nike decides to put the 24.7 boot on sale, will the early hype still be there?
