Jaheim Singletary was injured in the first quarter of Iowa State’s game against Bowling Green on Saturday and had to be carted off the field at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames. He was later transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames after being tended to on the field for several minutes.
The injury came on a 59-yard Bowling Green touchdown that tied the score at 7-7, turning a scoring play into a stoppage that sent both Iowa State’s training staff and EMS personnel rushing onto the field. Singletary and Willie Breland III collided on the play.
While medical staff worked on Singletary, Iowa State coach Jimmy Rogers and Bowling Green coach Eddie George stood nearby, and Cyclone players gathered together on the field after he was taken away. The scene left Iowa State waiting on the one thing that matters most now: how serious the injury is and whether it will keep him out beyond Saturday.
Singletary is an Arkansas transfer in his first season in Ames, so the setback lands early for both the player and a defense that had just seen him go down in real time. The immediate next step is a diagnosis, but the team has not said what specific injury he suffered or how long he might be sidelined.
