Roxanne Perez says her road to La Catalina started years before her latest title shot. Perez said AAA invited her to train and wrestle there when she was 16, a chance she could not take at the time, even though she is now back in position to challenge for the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship.
The timing matters because Perez, now 24, has just earned that title shot at WWE X AAA Worlds Collide after defeating Nattie, La Hiedra and Faby Apache. For readers following La Catalina, the new matchup is not coming out of nowhere. It is the next turn in a story that reached back to the first time AAA noticed her.
Perez said she had already been training for years by then. She said she started at 13 and understood even then that big chances would not come on demand. Her approach, she said, was to spend the years before adulthood getting as sharp as possible so she would be ready when the door finally opened.
That door opened early, but not enough. Perez said Triple A invited her to come in, train there and be part of its shows when she was 16. She described the offer as one of her first real breaks on the independent scene, but said she could not walk through it because she was still too young and her parents were not fully on board. That detail gives her current run extra weight: the same company that once had to wait for her now has a challenger who is no longer waiting for permission.
She put it plainly. She said she is here now, she is not asking anybody for permission, and she is going to take over Triple A. Perez’s point is less about regret than timing. What she could not do at 16, she is trying to do now with momentum behind her and a title opportunity already secured.
The road to that shot is not new, either. Four years ago, when she was known as Rok-C, Perez challenged Deonna Purrazzo for the AAA Reina de Reinas title and put her ROH Women’s World title on the line. This time, she arrives from a different place, with a new name, more experience and a fresh win over Nattie, La Hiedra and Faby Apache to get back into the same title picture.
That is why La Catalina now carries more than the promise of another championship match. Perez has already had one AAA title run at the edge of her career, turned down the company’s early invitation, and come back with enough force to make the next challenge feel overdue. The unanswered question is not whether she belongs in the mix. It is how far AAA will have to go this time before she finally gets what she said she has been building toward since she was 13.
