NFL.com analysts have put bold Week 1 forecasts on the board for the 2026 season, and the sharpest ones land on Justin Jefferson, Josh Allen and Malik Willis. The predictions point to Jefferson clearing 200 receiving yards against the Packers, Allen being shut out by the Texans, and Willis opening his first season as a franchise quarterback with a 100-yard rushing day and a score against the Raiders.
That is why NFL games tomorrow is already drawing attention from fans who want more than a schedule check. These are not broad season takes. They are specific stat lines tied to one weekend of the year, the kind that turn an opener into a referendum on how far a team and a player can carry a script written months before kickoff.
Jefferson is the most eye-catching call. The Vikings wideout is projected to go over 200 yards against the Packers after he torched them for 184 receiving yards and two touchdowns on nine catches when the Vikings hosted that same Week 1 matchup in 2022. A 200-yard receiving game in an opener is rare enough to stop the page; doing it against a familiar rival only sharpens the claim.
The Allen prediction is built on history, but it still lands like a dare. He is 0-2 against DeMeco Ryans' Houston defense, with a 51.6 percent completion rate, 384 passing yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in those two games, plus a 62.2 passer rating. Houston has gotten to him too, with 31 pressures and nine sacks across those meetings, including eight sacks in last year's matchup. Even so, a shutout is a far more extreme outcome than the recent numbers suggest.
Willis gives the forecast sheet its human edge. He signed a three-year, $67.5 million contract with the Dolphins and is set to begin a season as a franchise quarterback for the first time in his career, yet the projection has him doing damage with his legs rather than his arm, with 100 rushing yards and a touchdown against the Raiders. That would smash his usual pace, since he has averaged just under 45 rushing yards per game in six career starts and would also threaten Miami's quarterback rushing record of 65 yards, set by Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2019.
There is a catch with the Raiders prediction. Brock Bowers was ruled out after a knee procedure, which changes the offensive shape around a game plan that is already leaning on Michael Mayer for two touchdown grabs against Miami. That is the part these Week 1 forecasts always depend on: one absence, one matchup change, one player forced into a role that the numbers did not expect.
Jared Goff is the other name that pushes the same idea from a different angle, with a projection to lead all fantasy scorers in Week 1. He has averaged the fourth-most fantasy points per game at home since 2022 and was second in passing yards, touchdowns and fantasy points against zone coverage last year, which matters because the Lions are at Ford Field against a very zone-heavy Saints defense. The Panthers, meanwhile, enter with a 3-1 preseason showing, another reminder that these calls are being made before any of them are tested in real time.
That is the real draw of Week 1 predictions: they are precise enough to argue with and fragile enough to collapse in one quarter. The games will decide whether Jefferson gets his statement day, whether Allen can turn the Houston matchup back in his favor, and whether Willis can turn a contract into proof before the season has even settled in.
