Ford opened with 25 carries for 99 yards and three touchdowns in Stanford's 37-27 win over Hawaii, while Pribula went 9-of-11 for 155 yards and two scores and added 110 rushing yards on 15 carries in Virginia's 34-8 win over NC State.
That is why the numbers matter now. Week 0 is the first real hint of how a player is being used, and Ford's line was not just efficient — it was a workload statement. Stanford gave him 25 of its 37 rushing attempts, and he scored all three of the team's rushing touchdowns from two yards out. In half-PPR terms, that kind of usage can swing a lineup before most leagues have even settled into the season.
Pribula's case was different but just as useful for managers. Virginia leaned on the run with a 57-to-11 split, and he was a major part of that plan while still throwing efficiently. He also showed that his value is not limited to pass attempts, which matters in fantasy formats that reward production on the ground as much as it does through the air. Against an NC State offense that never found rhythm, Virginia did not have to stretch the game to know who was carrying it.
Ford's breakout comes with one obvious caution: Hawaii was Stanford's second-easiest opponent from a CFF perspective, so the setup was friendlier than what follows. Stanford faces Miami this week, then a bye, and that stretch should tell managers whether Ford keeps the goal-line role and the heavy volume that made him so valuable in Week 0. If he does, the opener will have been more than a hot start; it will have been the first proof that Stanford intends to let him drive the offense.
For now, the cleanest read is simple. Ford looks like a waiver priority because the carries were real, the goal-line work was real and the touchdowns came in the exact place fantasy managers want them. Pribula looks like a lineup lock in the right formats because Virginia gave him both the ball and the freedom to do damage with it. Week 0 did not answer every question, but it gave managers enough to act before the rest of the season starts sorting itself out.
