The Buffalo Bills are set to trade Sedrick Van Pran-Granger to the Indianapolis Colts for sixth- and seventh-round picks in the 2027 draft, a move that would turn a little-used backup center into future draft capital. The reported deal has not been confirmed by the team.
That is why Van Pran-Granger is drawing attention now: he was Buffalo's 2024 fifth-round draft pick, but the path behind Connor McGovern narrowed after McGovern went down with a hamstring injury on Aug. 8. Lloyd Cushenberry moved into the starting lineup after that and held the job through camp and the preseason, leaving Van Pran-Granger on the outside of the Bills' best lineup.
He did still find a role when Buffalo rested its frontline players at the end of the 2024 and 2025 seasons, starting those games and logging 217 offensive snaps plus 131 special teams snaps. But the value the Bills appear to be getting back suggests they no longer see him as a needed piece, especially since he does not offer the flexibility to handle guard and Buffalo also had Austin Corbett in the mix because he can move across the line.
The Colts have a cleaner reason for asking about him. They were looking for backup help behind starting center Tanor Bortolini after Dalton Tucker and Jimmy Morrissey performed inconsistently, and Van Pran-Granger fits that need as a true center. Dane Brugler of The Athletic once graded him as a late third-, early fourth-round talent before the 2024 draft, and his profile still reads like one built for line play rather than versatility: strength, smarts and leadership, with questions in space.
What remains unresolved is not the fit but the paperwork. A trade report says the deal is going to happen, yet Buffalo has not confirmed it, so the move still sits in the narrow gap between an agreement and an official transaction. If the teams do finish it, the Bills will have converted a reserve center into two future picks, and the Colts will have added insurance behind Bortolini before the season fully settles in.
