Diego Pounds had only just joined the Ravens after going undrafted out of Ole Miss this year, but his route to the NFL had already covered a long stretch. He started 24 games at left tackle over the last two seasons at Ole Miss and also saw time there during three years at North Carolina, which gave him enough experience to draw a trade before final roster cuts.
The move matters because Kansas City is sorting through its tackle picture right now. The Chiefs list Josh Simmons and Jaylon Moore as the starters on the depth chart, with Esa Pole and Kahlil Benson behind them, so Pounds arrives into a room that already has names at the position and still appears to be taking shape.
