Brownsburg opened the first week of Indiana high school football rankings at No. 1 after beating Lawrence North 48-25, and the top spot came with a defensive edge from Chancelor Adams, who made 15 tackles. Warren Central stayed close behind at No. 2 after a 20-14 win over Center Grove, while Westfield, Carmel and New Palestine filled out the next three places after their own Week 1 victories.
That early ordering gives the first real snapshot of the season, and it is the one fans look for when Indiana high school football scores start stacking up. Brownsburg did enough on both sides of the ball to hold the top line, while Warren Central’s 20-14 win over Center Grove kept the gap narrow enough that the opening week did not settle much beyond the first few slots.
Westfield stayed at No. 3 after beating Homestead 49-21, with Cooper Melvin completing 17 of 28 passes for 281 yards and three touchdowns. Carmel followed at No. 4 after a 47-0 shutout of Fishers, and New Palestine held No. 5 after a 28-17 win over Wheaton St. Francis, powered in part by Ryder Gardner’s three catches for 126 yards and a touchdown, along with a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
The rankings also showed how quickly one result can change the picture. Center Grove entered at No. 7 despite the loss to Warren Central, which is the kind of placement that makes sense only in a first-week poll built around a full body of opener results rather than a single final score. Lawrence North slid in at No. 8 after the defeat to Brownsburg, while teams such as Crown Point, Fort Wayne Carroll, Bishop Chatard, Avon, Merrillville and Penn all arrived with winning records and standout stat lines that helped push them into the mix.
Fort Wayne Carroll’s rise to No. 9 was backed by Gabe Frisinger’s 25-for-34, 380-yard, seven-touchdown night and Harry Scheele’s 15 catches for 231 yards and five scores. Bishop Chatard, at No. 10, leaned on Harrison Odom and Danny Adams, while Avon, Merrillville and Penn followed with their own fast starts. The next test comes quickly: Brownsburg is scheduled to host Rabun-Gap Nacoochee, and Westfield is set to host Carmel, a matchup that should say more about the top of the board than Week 1 ever could.
