For Atlanta, the value of the deal is in the length. A four-year contract is not a stopgap, and in league terms it signals a club willing to build around a striker rather than rent one for a short run. The only hard detail on Embolo’s arrival is the contract term, but that alone tells the story: Atlanta United is trying to add a forward with enough runway to matter beyond the rest of this transfer window.

Colorado Rapids president Pádraig Smith said the club would reinvest after a historic deal that sent Lucas Herrington to Hull City for up to $23 million, and the Rapids beat Sporting KC 2-0 this weekend, with Rafa Navarro scoring one goal and Paxten Aaronson adding one assist.
