Boerne is back on the Little League World Series stage, and its first game in Williamsport is set. The Boerne Little League team will face Soundview Little League from Tacoma, Washington, on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. Central Time, with the game airing live on.

That matchup gives Boerne a specific next step after winning the Southwest region, where it beat the Ascension Parish team from Gonzales, Louisiana, 4-1 on Aug. 10. For the team from Kendall County, it is a return to Pennsylvania and the second time in three years that Boerne has reached the Little League World Series stage.

Nate Kotisso, a digital journalist who joined KSAT in 2024, has been tracking the road to Williamsport as Boerne’s run has grown out of a Southwest regional bracket that was anything but routine. Little League Baseball, Inc. announced about an hour before the Aug. 10 title game that Tulsa had been disqualified from competition after using an ineligible player, turning Boerne’s game against Ascension Parish into the de facto regional title game.

The dispute did not end there. After Boerne’s win, a Waco-area district judge granted a temporary restraining order against Little League Baseball, Inc., which reinstated Tulsa into the Southwest regional bracket and championship game before the same judge dissolved that order on Aug. 11. Even so, Boerne’s result stood as the one that sent it to Williamsport, and Friday’s opener is now the cleanest measure of how far that path has carried it.

For Boerne, the immediate question is no longer how the Southwest region was settled. It is whether the team can turn that turbulent route into a win on Friday afternoon, when the first pitch against Soundview is scheduled and takes the game live.
