The timing matters because the draw takes place on August 28th, after the play-off stage the previous evening, and sign-ups close at 12 pm on August 29th. Adult prices start at £35 and rise to £49 depending on seat location, with scheme tickets set at 10% less than later general admission and the same pricing structure kept in place for the full run of the competition.
Fans who join the scheme will have their card registered when they sign up, with payment taken around two to three weeks before each game. That gives the club a clean payment cycle and gives supporters certainty for every home tie in the league phase, plus any matches that come after it if Sunderland progress further.
The trade-off is just as clear. Season-ticket holders who stay out of the scheme do not get guaranteed access and must rely on a brief priority window for each fixture, then a members’ ballot, then general sale for any seats left. Premium seating season-ticket holders can also join a similar plan, and the club has already been in contact with them, broadening the scheme beyond the main season-ticket base.
That leaves one detail still hanging over the announcement: the number of seats available under the scheme has not been disclosed.
