Vinicius Jr has signed a new contract at Real Madrid until 2032, ending talk that Arsenal could try to lure him to England. The Gunners had been prepared to make him their main target if he decided to leave, and he was open to the possibility of moving.
The deal matters because it closes off one of the few transfer possibilities that would have brought a player already at the peak of his fame into the Epl. That kind of move remains rare. Since the Premier League began in 1992, only three players have won the men's Ballon d'Or while representing an English top-flight club: Michael Owen in 2001 for Liverpool, Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008 for Manchester United and Rodri in 2024 for Manchester City.
That record is striking because English football has repeatedly shown it can turn talented forwards into global names after they arrive.
