WWE has revealed the WWE World Heavyweight Tournament Bracket, and the path to Roman Reigns is now set. Eight luchadores are in the field, with the winner earning a title shot at Monday Night Raw on Sept. 14 in Mexico City.
The bracket gives Penta the opening that could turn his run into another championship surge. He will face Laredo Kid on Monday's edition of Raw, while Psycho Clown meets La Parka on Saturday, Aug. 15, and the winners advance to the semifinals. On the other side, Rey Fénix takes on El Fiscal on the Aug. 17 Raw, and Dragon Lee meets El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., with those winners also moving on.
That setup matters because Penta is not walking in as just another name in the field. He held the Intercontinental Championship for 153 days, won it from Dominik Mysterio on the March 2 edition of Raw and defended it in a six-Man Ladder match at WrestleMania 42 against Rey Mysterio, Rusev, Dragon Lee, Je'Von Evans and JD McDonagh. He has also won the Latin American Championship once and the world tag team championship twice, which is why he is being viewed as the most likely winner even though the bracket is framed as open competition.
The tournament is built as a straight path: four opening matches, two semifinals and one final that produces the challenger. WWE has not placed the finale on a separate date before the title match, so the bracket itself is the road map, not a slow burn. That leaves one clean question hanging over the field: whether Penta keeps moving and reaches Roman Reigns in Mexico City on Sept. 14, or whether one of the other seven luchadores breaks the expected script.
