Jayden Daniels kept the Washington Commanders moving Wednesday, throwing touchdown passes to Terry McLaurin, Dyami Brown and Luke McCaffrey as the offense put together another sharp day with the pads on for the second time in three days. Daniels also found Ben Sinnott for a score, a sign that the passing game was spreading the ball with purpose rather than leaning on one target.
That is why McLaurin’s touchdown stood out. It came as Daniels looked completely comfortable under center, and it backed up the sense inside camp that the Commanders’ offense is starting to stack productive days together. Marcus Mariota did the same thing behind him, scoring on three straight plays and hitting Kaytron Allen, Quentin Moore and Nick Nash for touchdowns, which only added to the volume of work the group turned in on Wednesday.
The day mattered because Washington is not trying to sort out one hot drill in isolation. It is trying to learn what its passing offense can become while training camp still offers room to sort through roles, timing and depth. The Commanders need another receiving tight end, Sinnott appears primed to take that role and the club might keep four tight ends, but Colson Yankoff kept pressing with another strong moment when he caught a pass from Athan Kaliakmanis with one hand before tumbling to the sideline for a gain.
That is the friction point for the staff now: Sinnott may have the edge, yet Yankoff keeps making it harder to treat the role as settled. Washington will get a better read next week when the Commanders face the Miami Dolphins in joint practices, and Wednesday’s work suggested the offense is already entering that stretch with momentum.
