Astera Labs shares rose 3.03% to $320.68 on Monday, a move that put ALAB back in focus as the company headed toward its second-quarter earnings report after Tuesday’s close. The stock was being watched for a simple reason: investors were trading ahead of a scheduled update that could either validate or cool the run it has already made this year.
Wall Street is looking for second-quarter revenue of $360.72 million and adjusted earnings of 69 cents per share, while management has already pointed to adjusted earnings of roughly 68 to 70 cents and an adjusted gross margin of about 73%. That makes the upcoming report a test of whether Astera Labs can keep pace with the expectations built after a record first quarter.
In that first quarter, the company posted record revenue of $308.4 million, up 14% sequentially and 93% from a year earlier, and reported adjusted earnings of 61 cents per share. It also delivered an adjusted operating margin of 36.2% and an adjusted gross margin of 76.4%, numbers that help explain why the shares have stayed in the conversation even after Monday’s move.
Jitendra Mohan said the growth was driven by expanding adoption of the company’s Intelligent Connectivity Platform, and he pointed to initial shipments of the Scorpio X-Series 320-lane AI scale-up fabric switch. He also said the company was gaining market share across its broader portfolio of PCIe switches and Smart Cable Modules, which gives investors a way to separate the headline revenue jump from the mix of products behind it. The unresolved question is how much of that first-quarter surge came from PCIe 6 demand versus the rest of the lineup, and whether that strength carried into the new quarter.
The chart adds a second layer to the story. ALAB was 3.4% below its 20-day simple moving average and 10.4% below its 50-day average, even as it remained 22.1% above its 100-day average and 53.1% above its 200-day average. The 20-day average was below the 50-day average, the 50-day average stayed above the 200-day average after the May golden cross, and RSI sat at 47.82, a mix that suggests the market is still sorting out short-term momentum even as the longer-term trend remains intact.
For now, the stock’s Monday gain says investors are willing to pay ahead of the print. After Tuesday’s close, the earnings report will decide whether Astera Labs can turn that anticipation into another step higher, or whether the market has already done most of the work.
