The 2026 Little League Softball World Series opened its week on August 2 with the Girls with Game Celebration, giving the 12 teams in the field a night built around connection before the first pitch is thrown. Kinzie Hansen and Sami Williams took center stage for a Chalk Talk, then stayed to answer questions, pose for photos and sign autographs.
The World Series is presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods and runs through August 9, but the celebration arrived two days before the official start, turning the opening stretch into more than a countdown. Players moved through activations supported by adidas, AUSL, DICK’S Sporting Goods, Easton/Rawlings, GameChanger, T-Mobile and Topps, and they left with trading pins, including a custom option from T-Mobile.
Ashlea Miller said the evening was about much more than a single night of fun. She said it gave athletes a chance to build friendships that could stretch across countries and regions, and to see up close the opportunities that exist for girls in the sport. Her point was plain in the way the event was structured: the celebration was meant to feel festive, but also to remind players that the path in softball does not stop with this week.
That message carried extra weight because the players on hand were not being introduced to a distant idea of success. Hansen and Williams were there in person, sharing advice and taking questions from girls who are already on the biggest stage of their age group. Around them, giant AUSL Trading Cards from Topps and the sponsor stations turned the night into a showcase of where the game can lead, even as it kept the focus on the teams in front of this week’s competition.
The tournament itself is already drawing attention because all 22 games are scheduled to air on, and the opening celebration helped frame the event as a national showcase as well as a competition. What remains unresolved is the same question that hangs over every Little League Softball World Series: which team will carry the momentum from a week that begins with applause, pins and professional voices, and ends with a title on August 9.
