A helicopter from the Dirección General de Servicios Aéreos Cóndores flew preventive circuits until the end of the match, while 760 auxiliary police officers and 16 units watched entrances, exits, corridors and field level.
Authorities also tightened access filters to keep prohibited objects out of the stadium, and the Subsecretaría de Inteligencia e Investigación Policial worked outside the venue with support from a drone from the Unidad Águila to monitor the area and deter ticket scalping. The Subsecretaría de Control de Tránsito handled traffic and parking at the stadium access points from opening until the final whistle.
That heavy deployment is the part that stands out. The match was promoted as a major night for Cruz Azul and Atlante FC, but the security posture treated it as a crowd-control assignment that had to be managed from the first arrivals to the last departure. Whether that scale reflected a routine stadium plan or a more specific concern was not spelled out, but the message was clear: nothing around the Estadio Azteca was left to chance.
Atlante FC arrived looking for its first win of the tournament after a 2-1 loss at Club Necaxa and a 1-1 draw at home against the Águilas del Club América.
