Finn Bálor says he is ready for another World Championship run

Finn Bálor says he is ready for another run at the top, nearly 10 years after winning the inaugural Universal Championship. He said he feels better physically, better mentally and more prepared to become World Champion than he did in 2016.

That is why his name is back in the conversation now. At SummerSlam, Bálor will face Sami Zayn in a No. 1 Contender match for the Undisputed WWE Championship, a bout that could put him one step away from another title shot.

Bálor framed the difference between then and now as experience. In 2016, he said, he was wide-eyed, excited about the future and still inexperienced. He now says he has spent 10 years learning how to handle the ring, the pressure and the setbacks that come with staying near the top.

That confidence matters because it comes after a year that did not go cleanly. Bálor challenged for the World Title on two occasions earlier this year and did not win either time. Even so, he said he now has more self-belief, more discipline and a better sense of how to carry himself into a world-title picture.

His current position is tied to a bigger reset as well. After The Judgment Day imploded in March, Bálor was moved to SmackDown shortly after, and he has since been pushed back into the championship conversation. The move gave him a new lane, but SummerSlam will show whether that lane leads anywhere.

Bálor is not talking like a man hoping for one last chance. He is talking like someone who believes the version of himself from 2016 was only the beginning. The unanswered part is whether the more polished, more grounded Bálor can turn that belief into a win over Zayn and another path to the Undisputed WWE Championship.
