BSX stock is heading into a key test on Wednesday morning, when Boston Scientific is due to report earnings after a last quarter that beat revenue expectations but came with softer guidance. The market is now looking for another clean quarter from a company that has spent much of the past year beating Wall Street’s revenue targets.

That is why the next report matters now. Boston Scientific, which trades on NYSE:BSX, posted $5.20 billion in revenue last quarter, up 11.6% from a year earlier, but its next-quarter revenue guidance missed analysts’ expectations significantly and its full-year EPS guidance also fell short. This Wednesday, investors will get the next read on whether that strength can carry forward.

Analysts expect revenue to rise 5.9% year on year this quarter. That is a slower pace than the 22.8% growth Boston Scientific logged in the same quarter last year, but the company has a history of exceeding Wall Street’s expectations, and analysts covering the name generally reconfirmed their estimates over the last 30 days. The setup is straightforward: after a quarter that beat on revenue, the question is whether the business can avoid another split result, where the top line holds up but guidance disappoints.

The comparison with peers only sharpens the reading. Abbott Laboratories delivered 13% revenue growth and beat estimates by 0.7%, then traded up 12.8% after results. Intuitive Surgical reported 18.5% revenue growth and topped estimates by 2.5%, but its shares were down 14.1% afterward. Against that backdrop, Boston Scientific’s 4.6% rise over the last month looks modest, even as healthcare equipment and supplies stocks rose 1.9% on average.

The bigger gap sits in the valuation. Boston Scientific’s current share price is $45.55, while the average analyst price target is $72.25. That leaves room for a stronger reaction if Wednesday’s numbers and guidance come in cleanly, but it also leaves little patience for another quarter where revenue beats and forward expectations do not. For BSX stock, Wednesday morning is not just another earnings date; it is the next chance to show that last quarter’s guidance miss was a pause, not a pattern.
