Jakub Mensik enters Tuesday’s Round of 32 at ATP Washington as a heavy favorite over Trevor Svajda, a matchup that looks lopsided on paper and on the numbers. The match is scheduled for 4:00 pm ET, and the market is treating Mensik as the player most likely to move through in straight sets.

The gap starts with the rankings. Mensik is world No. 17, while Svajda sits at world No. 436, and the gulf is just as wide in Elo: 1,916.9 overall for Mensik against 1,461.7 for Svajda, with a similar edge on hard courts. That is why the prediction market has Mensik at 56¢ to win 2-0, while the moneyline sits at -400. In simple terms, -400 implies about an 80% chance of winning, and the 56¢ 2-0 price suggests the market sees a straight-sets result as more likely than not, but not guaranteed.

Svajda has done enough to force a closer look. Before Tuesday, he qualified for the main draw with straight-sets wins over Mackenzie McDonald and Elias Ymer, and his 2026 record stands at 10-7. That run matters because it is the only recent evidence that keeps this from being a pure formality, even if most of his volume has come in Challenger and ITF settings. Mensik’s own profile points in the other direction. He is No. 12 in the ATP Singles Race with 1,905 points from 20 tournaments, and his results over the past six months have included wins over Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, Taylor Fritz, Andrey Rublev, Alex de Minaur, Hubert Hurkacz, Karen Khachanov, Ben Shelton and Casper Ruud.

There is still a wrinkle for anyone reading the market too literally. Mensik has the profile of a straight-sets favorite, but the over on 20.5 total games is also being priced attractively at -144, which reflects the chance that Svajda can hold enough service games to keep the score from collapsing too quickly. The numbers also show why the market is careful: a 455-point overall Elo edge and a 457-point hard-court Elo edge usually point to control, not necessarily a quick finish.

That leaves a clear test for Tuesday. Mensik is expected to win, and the better question is whether Svajda can turn a mismatch into a longer match before Mensik’s edge takes over. If the favorite starts fast, the straight-sets case gets stronger; if Svajda lands enough resistance early, the over on 20.5 games becomes the live angle to watch.
