Michael Brennan is being backed to climb the 3M Open leaderboard, with a Top 10 price of +176 and a Top 20 price of -138. The recommendation makes the Top 20 number the main play, even though Brennan has finished inside the top 20 in only 5.3% of his 19 starts this season.
That interest comes from the same trait that has already helped him win this year: courses that reward separation off the tee. He won the Bank of Utah Championship on a layout built to give longer hitters an edge, then followed with a T18 at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship in 2025 and a T26 earlier in 2025 in Puerto Rico. His lone top-10 finish this season came at the Charles Schwab Challenge, another demanding driving test with fairways that are difficult to hit.
The fit is the reason Brennan remains a live betting option at TPC Twin Cities, where the fairways are described as favoring players who can separate off the tee. That matters because the opening round of the 3M Open was already playing low, with the field averaging 0.96 strokes under par, and Ben Kohles posted a 9-under 62 to grab a two-shot lead over Emiliano Grillo, Jackson Koivun and Gary Woodland.
There is still a clear gap between Brennan’s profile and the price attached to him. He has the kind of driving-based resume that can travel to this setup, but his season-long top-20 rate is still just 5.3%, which is why the wager leans more on course fit than on a steady run of results. Scottie Scheffler was three strokes back after the first round, so the leaderboard has already opened enough for a move, but Brennan still has to turn that theory into a finish before the value disappears.
