Jordyn Brooks agreed to a three-year extension with the Dolphins that is reportedly worth $51.3 million and includes $35 million guaranteed, keeping Miami’s leading tackler under contract after his best season yet.
The deal comes after Brooks started every game for Miami over the last two seasons and led the league in 2025 with 183 total tackles and 99 solo tackles. He also finished with 13 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, three passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery, a stat line that helped make him a first-team All-Pro for the first time.
That production mattered because Brooks was heading into the final season of the three-year contract he signed with Miami in free agency in 2024. Instead of letting one of its most dependable defenders move toward a contract year, Miami moved now and locked him in before the season even begins.
The move also fits the way the Dolphins have handled their offseason under the new regime of Jon-Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hafley. Brooks had already become one of Miami’s defensive cornerstones, and the extension gives the team another long-term piece after it also reached deals with Aaron Brewer and De’Von Achane.
The structure beyond the headline numbers is still not fully clear, but the guarantee tells the story: Miami protected its core linebacker while Brooks gave the club the certainty that comes with a multiyear commitment. Brooks entered the league as the No. 27 overall pick in 2020 and spent his first four seasons with the Seahawks, but his value in Miami has come quickly and steadily over the last two years.
What remains unresolved is the year-by-year split of the money and whether the extension changes his 2026 cap number. What is clear is that Miami did not wait to find out. It paid for stability, and Brooks gets to walk into the next season as more than a rental — he is now one of the defining pieces of the Dolphins’ defense.
