The Philadelphia Phillies unveiled special uniforms for their upcoming Field of Dreams Game against the Minnesota Twins, putting the showcase back in the spotlight before a pitch has been thrown. Bryce Harper appeared in the latest photo set released with the reveal, giving the team’s next marquee date a face as well as a uniform.

The Phillies and Twins are scheduled to meet at the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa, on Aug. 13, and the timing makes the reveal easy to understand. MLB played two games at the Field of Dreams in 2021 and 2022, then announced last November that the event would return this season, turning the game into one of the league’s most recognizable summer showcases.

That return lands at a useful moment for Philadelphia, which entered the stretch at 55-45 and three games behind the Atlanta Braves, who were 57-41, in the NL East. The Phillies also lost two of three games against the New York Mets over the weekend and were scheduled to open a three-game set against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night, so the uniform reveal arrives while the club is trying to keep its season from slipping in the standings.

What the new uniforms actually look like was not included in the release, which leaves the reveal doing more work as a signal than as a full picture. Even so, the message is clear: the Field of Dreams Game is back on the calendar, the Phillies are already dressing for it, and the August meeting with the Twins now carries the extra weight that comes with a national-stage event at Field of Dreams in Dyersville.
