WWE has changed the Wwe Summerslam 2026 card, adding an interim WWE Women’s Championship ladder match after Rhea Ripley’s injury status forced a shift in the title picture. Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill have already qualified, and two spots remain open on a two-night show that now has a clearer shape and a bigger unanswered question.
The update landed after this week’s episode of WWE Smackdown, which is why the card is drawing fresh attention now. SummerSlam is set for August 1st and August 2nd at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with the event airing live on Unlimited in the US and on Netflix internationally. For fans tracking the title scene, the interim ladder match is the main change, but it is not the only one that matters.
The rest of the card gives the event its weight. WWE has also lined up an Undisputed WWE Championship Match between CM Punk and Cody Rhodes, a World Heavyweight Championship Match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, a Hell in a Cell Match between Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi, a Women’s World Championship Match between Liv Morgan and IYO SKY, a WWE Intercontinental Championship Match between Penta and Chad Gable, and a match that puts LA Knight, Solo Sikoa and Royce Keys against Jacob Fatu and The Usos. It is a deep card, but the women’s ladder match is the one that still has room to change.
That is where the friction sits. Charlotte Flair vs. Nia Jax is next week’s qualifier for one of the remaining ladder-match places, but the field is still not complete, which means the title picture remains in motion even after the updated card was released. The men’s championship scene is unsettled too: Sami Zayn and Gunther can only be added to the Undisputed WWE Championship Match if they beat Cody Rhodes and CM Punk at Saturday Night’s Main Event, so that bout is carrying more than one possible outcome into SummerSlam week.
What WWE has now is a two-night SummerSlam with most of the frame in place and just enough uncertainty left to keep the next few shows important. Ripley’s status changed the women’s title race, and the result at Saturday Night’s Main Event could still alter the men’s championship match before the first bell is even struck in Minneapolis.
