Brunson was introduced as the newest King of New York, and Reigns called him a Finals MVP and NBA Champion while saying the Tribal Chief had made some moves so every champion in WWE needed a title.

When Seth Rollins' music played, Tyrese Haliburton entered holding a chair and handed it to Rollins, who used it to clobber Reigns before setting another chair in the middle of the ring and preparing for a stomp. Brunson cut across him and said no, forcing the attack to break shape before Reigns fired back with a Superman punch and a spear, sending Haliburton running.
The championship handoff was ceremonial rather than a title change. Reigns picked up the NBA Championship during the exchange, then asked the crowd to acknowledge Brunson and himself as both men raised their belts high. The detail that matters now is what the show wanted that scene to mean: Brunson was being folded into the WWE spotlight on one of the company’s biggest live stages, but the interruption turned a presentation into a warning shot.
That matters because the event was framed as a bridge to SummerSlam, not a one-off cameo, and the show still had to settle CM Punk’s match later in the night. Brunson got the moment, Reigns got the reaction, and the interruption made it plain that the crossover was never going to be neat.
