The timing matters because the team left the Estadio Azteca in a matter of days, then said it would play at the Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes, then announced Querétaro because of the poor quality of the pitch. Now the league has reversed course and settled the club back at the Coloso de Santa Úrsula.
That return also means Cruz Azul will share its home with América and Atlante. For a club that still does not have a home of its own, the latest move is less a fresh start than another stop in a long search for a fixed address.
The construction of Cruz Azul's stadium remains a myth, and that is the real backdrop to this decision. The team has been shifting from one venue to another because there is still no stadium of its own to anchor its schedule, even as it tries to keep pace in Liga MX.
