The increase is immediate and substantial: the total purse is up from £53.5 million in 2025, and the singles winners’ prize money rises from £3 million to £3.6 million. In dollar terms, that top singles payout works out to about $4.82 million, while the overall purse is roughly $86 million.
That matters because Wimbledon remains the most prestigious of the four Grand Slams, and the size of the purse is one of the clearest ways the tournament measures its own scale. Jannik Sinner won his first Wimbledon title in 2025, when the men’s and women’s singles winners shared the same £3 million figure; in 2026, the champion’s check is larger, and the gap between top prize and the rest of the field widens further.
There is one wrinkle in the numbers. Wimbledon is calling the 2026 fund a record, even though the tournament had already pushed its total purse to £53.5 million in 2025. The cleanest reading is that the new figure is still the biggest in the event’s history, but the rise is not from a standing start. For Linda Noskova, who defeated Karolina Muchova in three sets on Saturday, the headline is simpler: the champions at Wimbledon will now walk away with more money than ever before, and the road to that prize is getting more expensive for everyone else.
One of Jannik Sinner or Alexander Zverev will be the next man to claim the title and the new top payout. The question now is not whether Wimbledon is paying more; it is how quickly that record can be broken again.
