Franklin Arias will get a national stage on Sunday when he takes part in the 2026 MLB Futures Game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The Red Sox shortstop is set for the noon ET start in an event that sits in the middle of MLB All-Star weekend.
Arias is not arriving in Philadelphia as a name to introduce. He is ranked seventh on MiLB.com's prospect list and is hitting.325/.411/.596 with 18 home runs and 48 RBIs in 70 games for the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs, a run that has made him one of the players fans are circling for the showcase.
The appeal of the MLB Futures Game is plain: it puts some of the brightest young talent in the minor leagues on the same field for a one-day look at what is coming next. For Arias, the invitation also confirms how quickly his stock has climbed inside the Red Sox system, with a promotion to Triple-A Worcester later this year still possible.
That possibility leaves one question hanging over Sunday's game. Arias could move up to Triple-A Worcester before the summer ends, but there is no indication yet whether that change will come before or after the Futures Game. For now, he remains with the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs, and the next confirmed stop is Philadelphia, where NBC will carry the game and DIRECTV and Peacock will stream it.
However the rest of the season unfolds, the Futures Game gives Arias a shot to turn a strong minor league line into a wider audience. If he keeps hitting, the invitation in Philadelphia may end up looking less like a milestone than a preview.
