Ardon Jashari has been put on Milan’s transfer list after a first season that never really took hold, and the club will use preseason to decide whether he still has a place in the squad or should be moved on. Milan are open to an exit if the right offer arrives, but only at a price that protects them from a capital loss.
That is why Jashari is back in focus now. Milan paid €34m plus €3m in bonuses to sign him from Club Brugge, and they want at least €30m before they even consider letting him go. For a player who arrived with a significant fee attached, the calculation is simple: if the market does not come close to that level, Milan keep him and keep testing him through preseason.
The reason his first year fell short is easy to trace. Injuries interrupted him, and Luka Modric’s presence in midfield made it harder for him to claim a regular role. That combination pushed Jashari toward the edge of the project rather than the center of it, even as AC Milan continue to reshape the middle of the pitch after strengthening elsewhere.
There is also no shortage of moving parts around him. Milan’s summer plans in midfield are expected to involve more than one player, and Jashari is part of that wider list of possible departures. Atalanta are interested, which gives Milan a potential buyer if the numbers line up, but interest alone does not change the club’s threshold or the fact that they would rather avoid taking a loss on a player signed only a year ago.
The complication is that Milan are not treating this as a clean sale. Jashari’s agent recently met with management to assess the situation, and that conversation points to a decision that is still open. Ruben Amorim wants to evaluate Jashari, but Milan are also willing to listen if an acceptable offer arrives, leaving preseason as the test that should settle whether he stays in the squad or becomes one more midfield exit before the window closes.
