Sevilla FC and Juventud de Torremolinos will meet on Saturday 11 July at 21:00 in Seville, turning a preseason fixture into the first real summer test for both squads. The match will be played at the Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios and will be shown on Sevilla FC+.
For Juventud de Torremolinos, it is the first friendly of a summer that begins after last season’s late survival in Primera RFEF. For Sevilla, it arrives with a group still missing pieces and several players unavailable, which makes the game less about the score and more about what each side can already count on.
The match also carries a small layer of history. Sevilla Fútbol Club and Juventud de Torremolinos have faced each other once before, in the second round of the Copa del Rey in the 2022/2023 season. Sevilla won that tie 0-3 at El Pozuelo, with Carlos Álvarez and Joan Jordán on target and Dani Fernández putting through his own net.
This time, though, the setting is different. It is the first friendly between Sevilla FC and Juventud de Torremolinos, and it comes at a moment when both teams are still being built. Sevilla FC+ will carry the match for socios rojos, blancos and abonados, so the first public look at the summer work will be easy to follow.
For Luis García Plaza, the list of absences matters as much as the minutes on the pitch. Alfon González is out for around two months, Andrés Castrín has pubalgia, and Tanguy Nianzou, Federico Gattoni, Fábio Cardoso, Joan Jordán and Rafa Mir are not in his plans. Akor Adams has not yet joined training while his future is being resolved, a situation that could take him to Venezia FC. Chidera Ejuke and Odysseas Vlachodimos are already training, but they are not expected to have enough sessions to take part.
Juventud de Torremolinos, meanwhile, arrives with bigger ambition after major investment and impact signings, but the squad still needs a significant number of additions before the season starts. That gap is the real backdrop to this opener: a club trying to turn investment into a team, against a Sevilla side that is also changing shape under a different coach and sporting director than last summer. The first whistle at 21:00 will not settle anything, but it will show how much of the work is already in place.
