The post that drew the most attention said, "This is my girlfriend of six years. But I cheated on her with Loren Waters. So feel free to continue following me if you really think I’m a good guy because I’m not.:)" A follow-up post showed what appeared to be photo booth prints of Tobey and Loren Waters kissing, with the words "Me and the new girl" over the image. Loren Waters is the sister of Spurs guard Lindy Waters III, which is why the allegation landed so directly in the middle of the team's orbit.
Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports reported that Tobey was out as the team’s play-by-play announcer after his girlfriend accused him on social media of cheating with a relative of a Spurs player. That matters because Tobey had announced in June that he signed a multi-year extension to remain in the role, making the move look abrupt rather than routine. He had also sung the national anthem before Spurs games, which made him a familiar face around the team even beyond the broadcast booth.
What keeps the story unsettled is the account itself. Fans suggested the posts were uploaded by Tobey’s girlfriend, who may have access to the account, which would mean the allegation appeared under his name without proving he wrote it or even posted it. That leaves two questions hanging at once: whether Tobey actually cheated with Loren Waters, and whether the social media posts that led to his removal came from him at all.
For now, the only hard fact is the personnel change. Tobey is out, his accounts are private, and the Spurs have moved on from the broadcaster they had just extended in June.
