U.S. stocks rose on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average closing above 53,000 for the first time as a fresh wave of buying lifted Big Tech and semiconductor shares. The Dow edged up 0.3%, the S&P 500 climbed 0.7% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite jumped 1.1%.

That move put Djia Futures back in focus for investors who had watched pressure ease across the tech sector after a late-June slump in chip stocks. Alphabet, Apple, Meta and Tesla all rallied, and semiconductor shares joined the advance after Hon Hai reported a stronger-than-expected rise in quarterly sales on Sunday, a signal that demand tied to AI is still carrying weight.

The record close came even as Monday's batch of U.S. services data showed little change and a disappointing June jobs report had already reset expectations for interest rates. Oil prices were little changed after OPEC+ agreed to raise output targets, while flows revived through the reopened Strait of Hormuz, easing another source of market strain.

Samsung Electronics was due to report quarterly results on Tuesday, with profit expected to rise 18-fold from a year earlier, and that made the next two sessions matter as much as the rally itself. Minutes from the Federal Reserve's first meeting with Kevin Warsh at the head were due on Wednesday, and investors will be looking for any sign that the central bank is still prepared to keep rates where they are, even after the labor data forced markets to rethink the pace of easing.

For now, the story is simple: the market found its footing, the Dow set a new milestone and the rebound in Big Tech was strong enough to carry the index past a level that once looked far away. The harder question is whether that strength can last if the Fed minutes sound less accommodating than traders hope.
