That fee tops the previous benchmark Milan set in 2019, when Rafael Leão arrived from Lille for €49.5 million. This one lands in a very different moment for the club, after Milan finished fifth in Serie A in the 2025-26 season and missed the Champions League places on the final day with a 2-1 defeat to Cagliari.
The timing also explains why the transfer is being read as the first signing of the Amorim era at AC Milan, even though Ruben Amorim is described as the former Manchester United boss. His label points to where he was before, not where Milan stand now: the club has already moved on from Massimiliano Allegri, Igli Tare, Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada after a season that ended with change at the top and questions over the attack.
Ramos arrives with a clear statistical case. He scored 45 goals in 131 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain and helped the club win three Ligue 1 titles and two Champ. Milan's forward line also needed a reset after a patchy 2026, with Christian Pulisic failing to score, Rafael Leão managing four goals after the calendar flipped and Christopher Nkunku finishing on eight. What remains unanswered is when Ramos will actually join up with Milan after the World Cup duties are done, but the club has already made its biggest statement of the summer.
