Scottie Scheffler said Meredith Scheffler is doing more of the heavy lifting at home while he tries to keep his mind on golf during U.S. Open week. He said the arrangement lets him chase his work on the course, even as the demands at home keep growing.
The timing matters because Scheffler is not just playing another major. He is in position to chase the career grand slam, with the U.S. Open the one major he still needs to complete it, and that makes every part of his week feel bigger than a routine stop.
Scheffler said it takes a lot of work for him to make a living at golf and that Meredith carries a lot of the sacrifice behind it. The couple has two young toddlers, Bennett and Remy, and he said he often cuts practice short so he can get back home and spend time with them and Meredith. That makes the family side of the story easy to miss from the outside, even as it shapes the way he prepares.
He and Meredith met in high school, started dating in their senior year and exchanged vows in 2020. Their first son, Bennett, arrived in May of 2024, and Remy joined the family in March of this year, turning a long relationship into a home built around two little boys. Scheffler said Bennett is hilarious, loves cars and trucks and dirt, and is already drawn to golf and sports.
That is the part that sits underneath the tournament talk. Scheffler can spend the week chasing one of golf’s biggest milestones, but he also said winning is brief when the morning after still brings breakfast and the ordinary work of family life. He said he wants to spend the time at home when the season ends, which makes Meredith’s role less like a background detail and more like the reason the rest of the schedule works at all.
For now, the U.S. Open is pulling the spotlight. When the season ends, Scheffler says the first thing he wants is time at home, where the real balance of his life is already being handled.
