The U.S. Open released its Saturday tee times Friday night, and Wyndham Clark and Matt Fitzpatrick were placed in the final pairing for the third round at 3:45 p.m. ET at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. Dylan Wu and Jacob Bridgeman will go first at 9:00 a.m. ET, setting the bookends for a day that runs from the lowest names on the board to the leaders.
That schedule is the one readers search for once Friday’s second round is done, because the leaderboard now sets the order and the cut sets who gets a Saturday start at all. The third round is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, and tee times are expected to fall between 8:30 a.m. ET and 4:00 p.m. ET, with every group going off the 1st tee in pairings based on position.
For Clark and Fitzpatrick, the late slot means they will be the last players sent out when the day turns to the leaders. For Wu and Bridgeman, it means the opposite: the first swing on Saturday morning and the earliest chance to move up before the heavier TV windows begin. Saturday’s round will be on USA from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ET and on NBC from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET, with featured group coverage streaming from 8:45 a.m. ET on Peacock, USOpen.com and the USGA App.
The schedule could not be finalized until Friday’s play was complete, because the field had to clear the cut before the order for Saturday could be set. That is why the release came only after dark, and why the range of tee times matters: it tells fans not just when the leaders start, but how much of the field is still alive when the third round begins. Last year’s U.S. Open offers the cleanest comparison, when J.J. Spaun and Sam Burns went off at 3:35 p.m. ET and the first pairing opened at 9:12 a.m. ET.
Now the paper is set and the order is fixed. Clark and Fitzpatrick will walk into the final pairing at 3:45 p.m. ET, and Shinnecock Hills will spend Saturday moving from the first tee in the morning to the leaders in the late afternoon.
