Jennifer Lopez said she had “very little help” raising her twins, Emme and Max, as the 18-year-olds reached a milestone that left both of them headed toward college with scholarships. She made the comment on the June 15 episode of SmartLess while reflecting on what it took to get her and Marc Anthony’s children through high school.
Lopez said both of her children got into every college they applied to, and that both received scholarships. She said the news made her stop and look at what she had built as a parent, adding that she could finally appreciate the life she created for herself and feel happy about it.
The timing matters because the remark landed just as Emme and Max were graduating, turning a private parenting reflection into a very public one. Lopez and Anthony, who were married for seven years before breaking up in 2011 and finalizing their divorce in 2014, agreed to joint legal and physical custody of the twins after the split.
That is what gives her comment its edge. Lopez has said in the past that she and Anthony are “great friends” and parents together, but on this occasion she described the day-to-day reality differently, saying she had “very little help” while raising the twins.
