Peacock is sending Love Island USA Season 8 to the movies for one night only, putting the Casa Amor fallout on screens in 28 theaters nationwide on June 22 at 9 p.m. ET, 6 p.m. PT. Fans can reserve seats through Fandango.
The move gives Love Island USA fans a chance to watch one of the season’s biggest turning points together, even though the show normally lives on Peacock as a streaming series. Casa Amor is the twist that sends a new group of singles into the villa to test the existing couples, and the fallout is expected to send waves through Season 8.
The timing is no accident. Season 8 launched on June 2 and quickly became one of Peacock’s biggest summer draws, with the first few episodes pulling 824M minutes viewed, up 74% from Season 7, according to NBCUniversal. The run also generated more than 43M video views across platforms and debuted with 23% phone and tablet usage, a sign that the audience has already been following along wherever it is easiest to watch.
That is what makes the theater play so unusual. A streaming dating series is being pushed into a short-lived big-screen event, but only 28 theaters will carry it, a narrow rollout that keeps the screening feeling like a special drop rather than a standard release. The theater list spans places including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Huntington Beach, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Francisco, Tampa and Washington, DC, but the event still stays tightly controlled and one night only.
For Peacock, the screening turns a digital hit into a shared event without changing the format that made it break out in the first place. For viewers, the question is simpler: whether the June 22 screening becomes a one-off treat or the start of more theater runs for Love Island USA if the audience keeps showing up.
