Jesse Arthars is pushing for a move to Super League in 2027, and Catalans Dragons are among the clubs in the frame after offering the Brisbane Broncos outside back a long-term deal. The 27-year-old’s next step now points away from Brisbane, where he has spent most of his career.

A move to Catalans is being pursued even though John Cartwright’s long-term coaching future at the club is uncertain, and that leaves a layer of instability beneath what otherwise looks like a straightforward chase for a proven outside back. Other clubs in England have also been made aware of Arthars’ future, so Catalans are not operating without competition.

The wider picture is about timing as much as talent. Nick Cotric is reportedly keen on a return to the NRL in 2027 after two seasons with Catalans, and he has one season left on his deal. If he leaves, Catalans could be reshaping one edge of the squad at the same time they are trying to land Arthars for the other. For Arthars, the next move is now about whether the talks turn into a release and a deal that carries him into 2027.
